Enjoying A Krakauer At Truro’s Christmas Market | A Bimble Around Cornwall’s Only City

Join us as we head to our Nation’s capital, Truro, for the 2025 Christmas Market! It might not be the biggest Xmas market in Europe, but it’s a little local cracker! As per with our own traditions, we stop by the Bratwurst stand and indulge in some German goodness! Highly recommend. Following that, we embark on some Xmas shopping before enjoying a bite to eat at The Lounge.

Narrowest Street in Cornwall #truro

Welcome to the latest episode of Day Tripper Daz. This week we’ve crossed the border from Devon to Cornwall. We’re in Truro, Cornwall’s capital. The weather didn’t put us off as my friend Tony and myself discover the interesting sights and people that this city has to offer.
We start the day at the train station before heading down town to Victoria Park. Named after Queen Victoria who was marking her jubilee. There we meet the head gardener who has a heart warming story to tell. From there we stand outside the Courts of Justice – Cornwall’s only crown court and hear of a less than bright couple who stole a police car. We also discover that this was the location of Truro Castle
A little further in town and we meet someone from a shop which has two shops, right opposite each other. Is this unique?
Of course we enter into a few pubs during the day. We take a walk up Lemon Street. At the top we come across the statue of Richard Lander, a Cornish explorer with big discoveries in Africa to his name. A pub opposite of course, before returning to town.
A row of traditional red telephone boxes lines our route to Truro Cathedral. This impressive building is not as old as it looks but is well worth a visit, inside and out.
We come across another very narrow street. Not as impressive as Parliament Street that we saw in Exeter recently, but still has an interesting past.
We meet a young bagpipe player who seems to pop up everywhere we look in the city.
The Hall For Cornwall is in the center of the city. Preparing to put on a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, it has a very interesting statue outside, ‘The Drummer Statue’.
We enter a fantastic indoor market where we meet Dave, who runs a shop dedicated to reusing items that otherwise would be thrown away. Check out the half ‘mini’ car and inspirational way he has recycled his items in the shop.
We don’t go for our final drink before we once again bump into our bagpipe player and have a chat.
And then it is time for some final refreshment in the local Weatherspoons Pub.
Truro is Cornwall’s only city, known for its stunning Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, and the impressive Truro Cathedral, which dominates the skyline. It serves as the administrative center of Cornwall and is a vibrant hub for shopping, culture, and history. The city is set amid beautiful countryside and tidal creeks, offering a mix of independent boutiques and popular high street stores, making it a lively destination for both residents and visitors.
Join Tony and myself as we spend a day out in Cornwall’s capital city. #truro #cornwall #city #cathedral

Exploring Truro Cathedral | The Cathedral of the Blessed Mary

Join theBriceSide and Shelley as they explore Cornwall’s only cathedral, The Cathedral of the Blessed Mary, in Truro. Built between 1880 and 1910, the cathedral is of Gothic design, and is one of only three three-spired cathedrals in the UK. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson, the cathedral is a standout centrepiece belonging to the City of Truro.

4 different angles to view the tidal bore in Truro NS (Sept 2020)

After several years of filming the tidal bore around Truro. I have located different vantage points that enable me to view the tide at the different parts of its journey. The look off spot or Fundy discovery Center is ideal because it’s designed to entertain kids and host many people; also free wifi! The second location is a farm land access road, out in Onslow. This location is great because the river goes around a sharp bend right in front of you. The third location is just off the Park st bridge and is right in town. The fourth location is out in Old Barns off the Cobequid trail. This spot is ideal if you can plan seeing the tidal bore as it coincides with the sunset; which is beautiful along there on its own.
